Here I make no claims that massage alone can improve the aches and pains mentioned in this website. The Wellbeing Massage has evolved at the clinic following feedback from patients: Initial visits were made to deal with a specific ache and pain, then, following the resolution of the problem I found that people still wanted to re-book. As you may have read, my philosophy is to empower people to find the triggers that cause their discomfort and, hopefully, empower them to not need regular osteopathic treatment1, so the notion of a treatment session with no physical pain to treat caused me to reflect on this situation.
I concluded that relaxation is an important component of wellness and pain management, its value, therefore could not be underestimated. The emotional value of touch and the effects on mood2 and mental health3 are so profound that I could not ignore the fact that a good massage actually makes us feel good.
I can happily report that this concept links with osteopathic principles that the human body is a functional unit: Mind, body and spirit are interconnected. So for this reason I have included Wellbeing Massage at the clinic, whether it be a one off or a regular appointment I will be happy to provide you with some ‘YOU’ time.
1 Please note there are some conditions that do benefit from regular sessions of osteopathy.
2 & 3 Please do get in touch if you would like to see references relating to the effect of touch.
